Science behind the Salad Bowl
The fields around Salinas feed a quieter industry indoors. Produce and irrigation-water testing labs run microbiology and chemistry on samples pulled from Valley farms, crop research buildings pair growth rooms with greenhouses and bench labs, and processing plants keep quality rooms beside the production floor. College science classrooms add teaching labs to the mix.
Each of these spaces has bench work, sample handling and firm rules about what may touch what. Salinas Commercial Cleaning writes those rules into the cleaning plan, room by room, so the work supports your results instead of getting in their way.
Benches your staff have cleared
Crews clean the work surfaces your team has cleared and released for cleaning. Bench tops, shelf edges, cabinet fronts and sinks get the cleaning agents written into your procedure, and those agents stay on the surface for the contact time printed on their label. Anything left out by staff stays exactly where it sits.
The outside of fume hoods, biosafety cabinet exteriors, refrigerator and incubator doors, and instrument housings are wiped only where your procedure lists them. Color-coded cloths and mop heads stay assigned to one area, so a restroom tool never ends up in a prep room.
Receiving, prep and wash-up rooms
Field samples arrive in coolers carrying soil, leaf debris and wet cardboard. Receiving counters are wiped, cooler stacks swept around, and the floor scrubbed where mud comes in on the dolly wheels. In prep rooms, counters and sinks are cleaned first, and the mop works outward so nobody walks across a freshly cleaned floor.
Glassware wash areas pick up splashes and standing water through the day. Counters beside the washer, the floor around the drying racks and the drain area are cleaned, and spent cardboard and ordinary trash go out to the dumpster on every visit.
Cleanrooms and controlled rooms
Controlled rooms run on the client’s own written procedure, and the crew learns it before the first shift. That covers how to gown at the entry, which tools stay inside the room, the order of the clean from ceiling to floor and from the cleanest corner out to the exit, and which approved agents are allowed past the door.
Tools that serve a controlled room live in that room. Wall panels, pass-through exteriors, door hardware and floors are cleaned on the frequency your quality team sets, and the cleaning log is filled out the way your procedure asks.
Growth rooms and research greenhouses
Plant research spaces mix lab rules with farm dirt. Floors around benches and drains are swept and scrubbed, potting counters cleaned once staff release them, and walkways between greenhouse bays kept clear of spilled media. Trays, plants and experiments stay untouched. Our agricultural and greenhouse cleaning page covers the growing side in more depth.
Seed rooms, cold rooms for stored samples and headhouse workrooms join the same route. Doors and handles are wiped, shelving edges dusted where staff have cleared them, and floors swept of soil and seed before they are mopped, so debris from one project is not carried on shoes into the next room.
Floors, offices and everything around the lab
Lab floors take carts, stools and the occasional chemical drip. Sealed concrete where coolers and pallets come in can be machine scrubbed through our concrete floor cleaning service, and vinyl tile in bench labs can be stripped and given a new finish on the calendar you choose.
The rest of the building runs on ordinary janitorial care: offices, the conference room where results get reviewed, break rooms, locker rooms and restrooms. A lab inside a food plant can share one schedule with the plant’s support spaces through our food processing facility cleaning.
Hours that leave the bench alone
Cleaning lands after the last run of the day, between shifts or on weekends, and controlled rooms can be booked around incubation periods and planned shutdowns. Your lab manager or quality lead walks the rooms with us on a free walkthrough, and that visit turns into a written quote and room-by-room schedule.
No cleaner reaches your benches without a completed background check, and supervisors check finished rooms against your procedure during quality inspections. Salinas Commercial Cleaning is bonded and insured and carries workers’ comp, and our certificate of insurance can go to your safety or purchasing office before the start.
A few useful answers
Common questions.
Will the crew move samples, plates or instruments?
No. Anything your staff leave on a bench stays where it is. Crews clean the surfaces your team clears and releases, plus equipment exteriors only where your procedure lists them.
Can your crew follow our cleanroom gowning and cleaning SOP?
Yes. Your procedure is walked through with the crew before the first visit, covering gowning, tool assignment, cleaning order and logging, and supervisors check the rooms against it.
Which cleaning agents get used in the lab?
The ones your procedure approves. They are applied and left wet for the contact time on their label, and cloths and mops are color coded by area.
What time of day are labs cleaned?
After the last sample run, between shifts or on weekends. Controlled rooms can be scheduled around incubations and shutdowns.
Can our plant's quality lab share a plan with the rest of the facility?
Yes. The lab, the offices and the plant’s support spaces can all run on one schedule with one walkthrough and one quote.
